Accelerator Division was established on May 15, 1973.

Creation of the linear accelerator of hydrogen ions with the energy of 600 MeV and the average current up to 0.5 mA was the basic task of the Division. Accelerators with these parameters are effective tools for medium energy physics, neutrons science, applied research in radiation physics, materials science, medicine and in other areas.

Professor S. K. Esin was appointed the Head of the Accelerating Division.

The first accelerated up to 20 MeV beam was obtained at the turn of 1988.

The regular work of the accelerator for fundamental and applied research programs is conducted since 1993 year.
