• Unique installations have been constructed to provide fundamental research at the world's level
• A team has been formed of highly skilled scientists whose work is appreciated all over the world
• Of especial interest has become theoretical research in the field of high energy physics and the development of the perturbation theory in quantum theory of field, studies of vacuum structure in gauge theories, development of research methods of dynamics of hadrons strong interactions beyond the perturbation theory, research of the processes beyond the Standard Model of the elementary particle theory, description of baryon asymmetry of the Universe and studies of correlation between particle physics and cosmology
• New experimental data on nuclear reactions with participation of intermediate energy protons and photo-nuclear reactions have been obtained
• A direct experiment has given the world's best restriction on the neutrino mass value
• A world's best statistically based result of measuring the solar neutrinos deficit has been obtained
• New data have appeared in research of wide atmospheric showers in the vicinity of the energy spectrum knee and at higher energies
• We've got the world's best limits on the flux of high-energy natural neutrinos, on the existence of new hypothetical particles, on time and space invariance violence, on probabilities of forbidden decays
• The INR physicists have designed several units for some modern research installations abroad and in collaboration with the scientists of the leading world centers have obtained new results in the field of rare and forbidden decays as well as quark-gluon plasma
• Applied technologies are fruitfully developed and used in the Institute: fine refining of some substances, purification and usage of sewage water, production of radioactive isotopes for medicine and some others; work on creating the beam therapy center is under way
• The leading scientists of the Institute take part in teaching students and post-graduates.
